White House Visitor Center Rehabilitation and Closure Information
The White House Visitor Center is closed for rehabilitation. A temporary visitor center is located near the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion, just west of the intersection of 15th and E streets, NW.
National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Umbrella Policy
The lighting of the National Christmas Tree occurs rain or shine. Please be aware that umbrellas are not permitted within the event site. Guests are encouraged to bring ponchos and raincoats in case of inclement weather.

Harrison delivered the longest inaugural address, and was the 1st president to die in office, about 32 days after elected. On March 4, he gave a 105 minute speech and did not wear an overcoat or hat. He developed pneumonia and died in the White House one month after giving his speech, on April 4.
