Lighting the National Christmas Tree marks the official beginning of a 3-week musical event and is a tradition begun in 1923 when President Calvin Coolidge lit the first tree in President's Park on behalf of all Americans.
On July 4th, all visitors stopped by and became "Signers of the Declaration of Independence" at the White House Visitor Center. View photos by NPS Donna Spiewak.
