Don’t let your children catch cabin fever this winter! Instead, get them out to Weir Farm National Historic Site once a month for the new Reading Ranger program, a great way to ward off winter restlessness. From November to April, once a month on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., join a park ranger for a read-aloud story in our cozy historic barn, followed by a related activity exploring the farm’s fascinating landscape. Story topics will focus on the main themes of Weir Farm National Historic Site – expect lots of learning! This program is appropriate for children in grades K-4, as it intends to introduce younger children to Weir Farm National Historic Site in a fun and accessible format. However, children must have a parent/guardian remain with them for the duration of the program. The Reading Ranger program is free of charge, however, registration is required. To register, or for more information, please call (203) 834-1896 ext.12.
The dates and topics are as follows. Sign up for one, or many!
Saturday, November 14: Mr. Weir, Inspired!
Saturday, December 12: Preserving a Special Place
Saturday, January 9: What’s to be Found on the Farm?
Saturday, February 20: Stone Wall Wonders
Saturday, March 13: Nature All Around
