On Sunday, October 18, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., embark on a fall foliage walk at Weir Farm National Historic Site!  Enjoy an autumn hike with National Park Service Horticulturist Greg Waters that will explore Federal, State, and Town land, all connected by the Norwalk River Watershed Association trail system.

Weir Farm NHS Selected for the America the Beautiful Quarters Program
The United States Mint today announced the nation will honor 56 national sites to be honored through the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters Program.  Weir Farm National Historic Site will be featured on Connecticut's quarter in 2020.

National Public Lands Day 2009
On Saturday, September 26, Weir Farm National Historic Site will host a hands-on stone wall repair workshop in celebration of National Public Lands Day and National Park Service Volunteer Day.  Begin the day at 9:00 a.m. with a park ranger-led discussion about the significance of stone walls as landscape features at the site and in the region. The workshop will continue with a demonstration of stone wall construction, followed by the opportunity for participants to try their own hand at wall repair. This is a perfect opportunity to learn how the stone walls in New England were made, or how to care for walls on your property.

Jazz in the Garden 2009
The Weir Farm Art Center, in cooperation with Weir Farm National Historic Site, will present its 14th annual outdoor concert, "Jazz in the Garden," featuring the acclaimed Brubeck Brothers Quartet on Sunday, September 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Groundwork Bridgeport is submitting an application for the National Recreational Trails Program administered by the State of Connecticut’s Department of Environmental Protection.  Groundwork Bridgeport is completing its third year of our collaborative relationship with Weir Farm National Historic Site.

Selected Works: Mahonri Young
Weir Farm National Historic Site and the Weir Farm Art Center present Selected Works: Mahonri Young, an exhibition of paintings and sketches by noted artist Mahonri Young. On exhibit through October, these works range from dancing Hopis to dueling boxers, statuesque goats to sleeping cats, and from the rural fields of Branchville, Connecticut to the street corners of Salt Lake City.

Family Field Day
On Saturday, July 11, join several local naturalists at Weir Farm National Historic Site for the first annual Family Field Day 2009. The event is being cosponsored by the Ridgefield Conservation Commission and the National Park Service. Family Field Day will give visitors the opportunity to explore Connecticut's natural diversity at the only national park in the state, and will kick off the Conservation Commission's year long exploration of natural diversity in Ridgefield.

On Sunday, May 31, Weir Farm National Historic Site welcomed over 200 art lovers and artists, of all ages, to enjoy the fun of creating art in nature. A Brush with Nature, a free day-long plein air art event, celebrated the creation of art in a landscape that has inspired artists for over 125 years.

Connecticut Historic Gardens Day
Come celebrate Connecticut's Historic Gardens Day at Connecticut's only National Park Service site and newest member of Connecticut's Historic Gardens – an organization dedicated to preserving and promoting historic gardens throughout Connecticut. On Sunday, June 21, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Weir Farm National Historic Site's Garden Gang volunteers will be offering short informal talks in the Sunken Garden and Secret Garden about the gardens' history, flowers, restoration, and ongoing preservation.

Connecticut Open House Day
For a unique experience this upcoming Connecticut Open House Day, don a hard hat and explore the historic house and studios currently undergoing restoration at Weir Farm National Historic Site. On Saturday, June 13, the National Park Service will offer hard hat tours of the historic Weir House, Weir Studio, and Young Studio at 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
