“Here's one for park Rangers: Why did you choose to be a park ranger ? Who inspired you? (Suggested by WebRanger Christina2)”

Here's an answer from park ranger Brady: I wanted to be a Ranger since I was a little kid. My dad inspired me, he was a ranger in the 70s. I believe in the Park service mission; to preserve beautiful places and things so that future generations, maybe even my children one day, can enjoy them: hike the same trails, see the same wonders, watch the same kind of wildlife. I want to help people understand and appreciate these places so that they will also help to protect them. Parks are also a refuge for people of all backgrounds; a place where you can get away, find peace, refresh, and reflect. People shouldn't have to worry about their safety or crime. Besides all that, where else do you get to arrest a bad guy, help a sick or injured hiker, fight a fire, swear in a junior ranger, and dangle from a rope beneath a helicopter in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, all in the same day?

This is an answer from park ranger Connie: My family would visit the Smokies and I loved the visitor centers and wading in the ice cold streams. I worked for the county nature center when I was 17 and then for the NPS as a seasonal. The NPS job was much more interesting with something new everyday. My first time in the green and gray was like Christmas.
