War in the Pacific National Historical Park is proud to host the Guam War Survivors exhibit "Real People. Real Stories."In keeping with this year's Liberation Day theme of "Our Man'amko, Our Legacy," this exhibit features emotional accounts by the Chamorro survivors of the Japanese occupation of Guam. The exhibit is free and open to the public at the park visitor center.

"The exhibit "Real People. Real Stories." is in honor of the generation of survivors who are quickly passing on," said Superintendent Barbara Alberti. "We are glad to support this community awareness project out of the Office of Senator Frank F. Blas, Jr."

Through this exhibit, visitors can read the harrowing testimonies of terror and tragedy from Guam's World War II survivors and see the utter devastation of battle through a collection of war-time photos provided by the Micronesian Area Research Center (MARC) at the University of Guam and by the Department of Parks and Recreation, Government of Guam.Visitors will also have an opportunity to hear voices from the past through historic recordings made on Guam during the war.The public is invited to explore this fascinating exhibit now on display through July at the park's T. Stell Newman Visitor Center in Sumay.

The T. Stell Newman Visitor Center is located on Route 1 (Marine Corps Drive) just outside the Naval Station main gate (look for the submarine on display). The T. Stell Newman Visitor Center is free and open every day, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.For more information, please call 333-4050.
