War in the Pacific National Historical Park invites the public to join Park Rangers for a “Movies in the Park” evening program. The program will commence at sunset (6:30 pm), Saturday, July 17th, at the Asan Beach Unit on Marine Corps Drive.

The park will show a feature-length movie about a boy named Jim who dreams of flying but whose life is torn apart by World War II. Accustomed to wealth and privilege, Jim must learn to survive after he is separated from his family and sent to a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Directed by Steven Spielberg to critical acclaim, the film stars Christian Bale and John Malkovich, and is rated PG for violence, adult situations, and adult language.

This showing follows the 2010 Armed Services Recognition Day, an up-close showcase of special military equipment, munitions, and vehicles, also at Asan Beach Unit. The public is encouraged to bring snacks, blankets, umbrellas, and mosquito repellent. The event is free and open to the public. No alcoholic beverages allowed.
