On August 9 @ 2:00 p.m., Washita Battlefield National Historic Site's Summer Lecture Series will host noted Cheyenne artist, George Levi. Mr. Levi is a full-time artist, specializing in traditional warrior art - which originated among the Cheyenne in the 1850s, and is illustrated on historical paper. "Cheyenne art is history in motion. I try to put into my artwork a little bit of where the Cheyenne come from, where we are, and where we are going," exclaims Mr. Levi.

Mr. Levi is a member of the Southern Cheyenne Tribe and part of the Kitfox Society, thus he is intimately familiar with the Cheyenne Warrior Societies. He will discuss how he incorporates this knowledge into his Ledger Art paintings. Mr. Levi was raised in the El Reno and Geary, Oklahoma communities, but makes his home in Mustang, Oklahoma. Everyone is cordially invited to come to the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site to meet and hear George Levi. Please join us for refreshments following the presentation. The Summer Lecture Series is supported by Western National Parks Association, the cooperating association that operates the park store at Washita Battlefield National Historic Site.
