Washita Battlefield NHS Celebrates National Public Lands Day
On Saturday, September 26th National Public Lands Day, Washita Battlefield NHS will join other national parks throughout the country in a national day of celebration.“National Public Lands Day is held each September to educate Americans about their public lands, and to encourage the continued stewardship of these priceless and treasured places so that we can all enjoy them today and into the future,” said park superintendent, Lisa Conard Frost.
This year in honor of National Public Lands Day, the park will host a movie event at the Visitor Center for the entire family. Well provide free popcorn and lemonade! For the kids, we will show, “Let’s Go Chipper! Into the Great Outdoors, a thirty minute animated cartoon about respecting nature and the environment. The whole family can watch a one-hour preview screening of the Ken Burn’s 6-part documentary, The National Parks, America’s Best Idea, which will begin airing on PBS Sunday, September 27th at 8:00 p.m. EST. Mr. Burn’s book, The National Parks America’s Best Idea, will be on sale in the park’s bookstore.
Show times are 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. for Let’s Go Chipper, and 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. for The National Parks, America’s Best Idea.
