Voyageurs Visitor Use Sites Now Viewable in Three Dimensions in Google Maps

Click the image below to access the Voyageurs campsites page. You will then be able to browse Voyageurs campsites, houseboat sites, and day use sites in three-dimensions in Google Maps. Alternatively, you can also browse the sites in two dimensions or on topographic maps.
 
 
Voyageurs National Park Trails Illustrated Map

National Geographic Trails Illustrated Map
The brand new Voyageurs National Park Trails Illustrated Map is now available for purchase in park visitor centers. Hiking trails, snowmobile trails, ski trails, campsites, houseboat sites, visitor destinations, and navigation buoys are just some of the features indicated on this map. This map will supercede the free Camping, Houseboating, and Day Use Map, which will not be reprinted after the current supply is exhausted.

New Overnight and Day Use Sites
New campsites, houseboat sites, and day use sites are being constructed every year in Voyageurs National Park. New maps are available featuring the locations of the sites built during the last two years.

New Tour Boat Reservation System
As of June 9, 2010, all reservations for naturalist-guided boat tours in Voyageurs National Park are handled by a new reservation system. Reservations can now be made online at Recreation.gov or by calling the National Call Center at (877) 444-6777. Find out more information on our Tour Boat Reservations page.

Firearms in Voyageurs National Park
As of February 22, 2010, a new federal law allows people who can legally possess firearms under federal, Minnesota, and local law to possess firearms in Voyageurs National Park. It is the visitor’s responsibility to understand and comply with all applicable state, local, and federal firearms laws. State law prohibits the possession of rifles, shotguns and BB guns in public places such as Voyageurs National Park. In addition, federal law prohibits firearms in tour boats and certain facilities in this park; those places are posted with signs at public entrances. If you have questions, please contact the Chief Park Ranger at 218-283-6652.

Voyageur National Park's Newest Addition to the Fleet - the Voyageur Tour Boat
Take a tour on the newest addition to the park – the Voyageur tour boat. Tours aboard the Voyageur start at the Rainy Lake Visitor Center in late-June and run through mid-September. See the tour boat information page for more information.

This vessel is available for charters and can handle groups up to 49 passengers. To inquire about a charter, call (218) 283-6670.

2010 Regulations to Protect Interior Lakes (PDF)

The National Park Service has adopted the following three interim measures to protect the interior lakes in Voyageurs National Park from the spiny waterflea, other exotic species, and fish diseases:




  • artificial bait only (on all interior lakes only, does not include Rainy Lake, Kabetogama Lake, Namakan Lake or Sand Point Lake)


  • no privately-owned watercraft allowed in interior lakes (the park will continue to provide canoes and row boats for rent through the Boats on Interior Lakes Program (PDF) and Commercial Use Authorizations on Mukooda Lake)


  • no float plane landings on interior lakes
