Artist in Residence
Each year Voyageurs National Park selects two artists to participate in a two-week residency at the park. Selected artists are provided with a cabin near Kabetogama Lake near the Ash River Visitor Center. The residency typically occurs in mid to late August. In return, selected artists are asked to conduct at least one program for the public, and they are asked to donate one completed work of art that is characteristic of their style and their stay at Voyageurs to the park collection. The program is open to artists working in a variety of mediums, including: writers, photographers, performance artists, sculptors, and painters. Raymond Klass (photographer) and Patricia Rottino-Cummins (oils/pastels) have been selected for the Voyageurs National Park 2006 Artist in Residence program.
The Artist in Residence program will be suspended in 2007. No new applications are being accepted at this time. Please check this website for updates. If you have any questions, contact the Artist in Residence Coordinator at Voyageurs National park by calling 218-283-9821 or via email.
