2010 marks the 35th anniversary for Voyageurs National Park. To help commemorate this anniversary, the park hosted an amateur photo contest. Photos were submitted from more than 20 people around the country who visited Voyageurs this summer. August and September visitors to the Rainy Lake Visitor Center voted for their favorites in each of three categories:Scenery, Wildlife, and Recreation. The winner in the Scenery category was Bill Nigh from Indiana. His photograph was titled “Reflecting Rocks.” The winner for the Wildlife and Recreation categories was Barb Becker from Minnesota. Her photographs were titled “Red Neck Grebes” and “Houseboat Bliss.” Both the winning photographers were awarded prizes and their winning photos will be displayed on the park’s website until December 31, 2010. Keep a look out as you may also see them in publications from time to time. To view the photographs, go to the park website at http://www.nps.gov/voya/photosmultimedia/. -NPS - |
