Recent Wildland Fire Activity in Voyageurs National Park

International Falls, MN - Recent lightning activity within Voyageurs National Park has resulted in one wildland fire within the park.  The Tooth Lake Fire is approximately .5 acres and is burning in mixed pine and hardwood timber.Due to its location, accessibility issues, fire fighter safety, and few values at risk, the current action on the fire will be to monitor it daily.Other criteria include current and forecasted weather, current and expected fire behavior, availability of fire fighting resources, and proximity to private cabins or lands, or park infrastructure.

The Tooth Lake Fire is located east of Tooth Lake and approximately 2 miles south of Namakan Lake, and approximately 10 miles northwest of Crane Lake.The fire was detected on August 28 and reported through the U.S Forest Service.The National Park Service continues to monitor this fire.
