CANOE THE HEART VOYAGE REVIEW AND HEART OF THE CONTINENT PARTNERSHIP MEETING
The Heart of the Continent Partnership (HOCP) is a cross-border collaborative effort to bring together as many voices as possible to share ideas and learn about different perspectives affecting the border lakes region. On Thursday, October 22, interested organizations and individuals are invited to attend an afternoon presentation at the Bois Forte Heritage Center and a review of the successful Canoe the Heart summer event at Camp du Nord in Ely, Minnesota.

Starting October 1, 2009, Mary Graves became the park’s new Chief of Resources Management and Tawnya Schoewe became the park’s new Chief of Interpretation.

Voyageurs National Park Announces Fall Operations
Announcing the fall operating hours for the Rainy Lake Visitor Centers. Though, the Kabetogama and Ash River Visitor Centers are closed, the hiking trails are accessible.

Reminder - Hunting Prohibited and Buoy Removal In Voyageurs National Park
Beginning October 3, 2009 the removal of hazard markers and regulatory buoys will begin. Hunting in Voyageurs National Park is prohibited.

Minnesota's National Park Legacy To Debut On Television, Soon In Classrooms
Complementing the PBS documentary series, The National Parks: America’s Best Idea, Minnesota is telling its own National Park story, airing on Twin Cities Public Television (TPT). Minnesota’s National Park Legacy, a co-production of TPT and the 7 National Park Service units in the state, will premiere on Sunday, October 4th, 2009 — tune into TPT 2 at 6:30 p.m. or the statewide TPT Minnesota channel at 8:00 p.m.

Voyageurs National Park Provides Clarification About Carrying Weapons Within The Park
The carry of loaded firearms in units of National Park and National Wildlife Refuge Systems, when authorized by state law and not otherwise prohibited, will not take effect until 2010.
