Monument located on Union Avenue at Park Tour Stop #1, Battery DeGolyer. Also markers
designating the assaults of 19 May 1863 located 100' west of Union Avenue near its
junction with Old Jackson Road, and the assaults of 22 May 1863 located 500' east
southeast of the Louisiana Memorial in the south side of the tree line. This unit was
attached to Brig. Gen. John D. Stevenson's 3rd Brigade, of Maj. Gen. John A.
Logan's 3rd Division, Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's XVII Army Corps and was
commanded by Col. Benjamin F. Potts.
