Monument is located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park on former park property in the City of Vicksburg, 50 yards north of Illinois Circle (north) on Hall's Ferry Road. Also a marker designating a sharpshooter's line 350' off Hall's Ferry Road between the Georgia Salient and John Allen Street. This unit was attached to Col. Cyrus Hall's 2nd Brigade of Brig. Gen. Jacob G. Lauman's 4th Division, Maj. Gen. Cadwallader C. Washburn's XVI Army Corps (Detachment) and was commanded by Col. Samuel T. Busey.
