  • Illinois Monument Closure - Wednesday, September 24, 2014

    The Illinois Monument and immediate area will be closed to all visitors and tour traffic beginning at 8:00 a.m. and remain closed until contractors and lift equipment operators complete necessary measurements required for bat exclusion project work.

This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. John C. Vaughn's 2d Brigade, Maj. Gen. Martin Luther Smith's Division, in Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. Fountain E.
