Monument is located on the south side of Union Avenue approximately .6 mile west of Grant Avenue. This unit was attached to Col. Adolph Engelmann's Brigade of Brig. Gen. Nathan Kimball's Provisional Division, Maj. Gen. Cadwallader C. Washburn's XVI Army Corps (Detachment)on Maj. Gen'l William T. Sherman's exterior line. The regiment served on the exterior line from about 4 June 1863 until the end of the siege. [Refer to pages 689, 690 & 770, Volume VI of the WPA Monumentation Survey Books.
