Iron tablet located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park, on former park property in the City of Vicksburg, 500 ft south of the junction of Confederate Avenue and North Frontage Road. During the Greenville Expedition, this unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Stephen D. Lee’s Reinforced Brigade. Afterwards, the regiment was assigned to Brig. Gen. Seth M. Barton’s 1st Brigade, Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson’s Division, of Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. William E. Curtiss. Adjutant Lt. E. Ellis was killed at Champion Hill (16 May 1863).
