  • Union Avenue Road Closure - Tuesday, September 16, 2014

    Union Avenue will be closed to all activities (walking, biking, jogging, and vehicle tours) between the Memorial Arch and Pemberton Avenue beginning at 6:30 a.m., and remained closed until hazardous tree removal work in the area is completed.

Multiple monument located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park on former park property in the city of Vicksburg, on the east side of Confederate Avenue approximately 0.1 mile south of Mulvihill Street. Also, two trench line markers on the east side of Confederate Avenue starting approximately 0.1 mile south of Hall's Ferry Road and running south.

This unit was attached to Col. Alexander W. Reynolds' 4th Brigade, of Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson's Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. N.J. Lillard. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume II, page 644; and Volume III, pages 872 and 965.]
