Massachusetts State Memorial NPS Image This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Edward Ferrero's 2nd Brigade of Brig. Gen. Robert B. Potter's 2nd Division, Maj. Gen. John G. Parke's IX Army Corps (Detachment) on Maj. Gen'l William T. Sherman's exterior line and was commanded by Lt. Col. Joseph H. Barnes. [Refer to Potter of New York.]
