This unit was consolidated with the 25th Arkansas Infantry, and attached to Brig. Gen. Evander McNair’s Brigade, of Maj. Gen. Samuel G. French’s Division (organized 21 June 1863), Gen. Joseph E. Johnston’s Army of Relief, Department of the West, and commanded by Col. T.H. McCray. Col. Charles J. Turnbull, listed as in command of the 25th, became second in command under McCray as the 25th and 31st were consolidated during the siege. The unit is listed on a regimental marker to Arkansas units in Johnston’s Army of Relief, Department of the West.
