Monument located in the Vicksburg National Military Cemetery beyond the gazebo. Also a marker designating the assaults of 22 May 1863, located between Confederate Avenue and Park Tour Stop #6, 300' down slope and a marker designating a sharpshooter's line located in the Vicksburg National Military Cemetery beyond the gazebo. This unit was attached to Col. Charles R. Woods' 2nd Brigade of Maj. Gen.. Frederick Steele & Brig. Gen. John M. Thayer's 1st Division, of Maj. Gen'ls William T. Sherman & Frederick Steele's XV Army Corps and was commanded by Col. George A. Stone.
