Monument is located on Union Avenue 100 yards north of the Shirley House. Also a marker designating the assault of 22 May 1863 is located on the south side of Jackson Road at the 3rd Louisiana Redan and a marker designating a sharpshooter's line is located on Jackson Road 150' east of Park Tour Stop #3. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen'ls John E. Smith & Motimer D. Leggett (from 3 June 1863) of Maj. Gen. John A. Logan's 3rd Division, Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's XVII Army Corps and was commanded by Lt. Col. Evan Richards (killed at Battle of Raymond 12 May 1863) and Maj. Daniel Bradley.
