These units were attached to Brig. Gen. Marcellus A. Stovall's Brigade, of Maj. Gen. John C. Breckinridge's Division, Gen. Joseph E. Johnston's Army of Relief, Department of the West, and commanded by Col. W. S. Dilworth. Transferred from the Department of Tennessee, the consolidated regiment arrived in Jackson, MS, on 1 June 1863. On 4 July 1863, the units' headquarters were located near Bolton, MS. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume III, page 1149.]
