  Jordan's Plantation, Lincoln County
 

Confederate troops were stationed at Jordan's Plantation after their defeat at Arkansas Post on January 11, 1863, remaining there until the spring. Other encampment facilities, including Fort Douglas, Camp Freeze Out, and Camp Skeedattle, were probably also located on the plantation.

Evaluation

This site has local significance because it is associated with military activities and events that achieved or affected important local objectives of the Vicksburg campaign.

Recommendation

The site should be documented through the use of land records. Onsite interpretation and connecting the site to the Vicksburg Heritage Coalition is encouraged.
