During
March 3-5, 1863, Union troops landed at Grand Lake and marched to a
site just south of Eudora, where they camped to protect efforts to cut
the Mississippi River levee and thus raise the water level in Bayou
Macon.

This
site has local significance because it is associated with military activities
and events that achieved or affected important local objectives of the
Vicksburg campaign.

The
Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism maintains a state park and
visitor cent in nearby Lake Village. Interpretation of the actions at
Eudora would be appropriate there. The site would be documented. Onsite
interpretation and connecting the site to the Vicksburg Heritage Coalition
is encouraged.
