The National Park Service (NPS) is a partner in the Healthy Hyde Park Walks. The Hyde Park Trail is a growing, 10-mile system of trails and walkways linking Town parks, nature preserves and National Park sites with local neighborhoods and the Town's central business corridor. It is also designated part of the Hudson Valley Greenway Trail. These walks are part of the fun you experience when you visit one of the NPS sites in Hyde Park, NY.

In 1940, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the enabling legislation for the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park, NY to become part of the National Park Service.
