Road Projects

Rehabilitation of Valley Forge National Historical Park Routes and Parking Lots

This project was completed in the Spring of 2009.  All associated parking areas and roads are now open.

Rehabilitation Project Included:

- Rehabilitating Inner Line Drive and Redoubt 4 Road, including related pull offs, parking lots, and drainage rehabilitation and improvements;

- Removal of Huntington’s Overlook parking lot and Washington’s upper parking lot 'A', and restoring of the landscape of those areas;

- Removal of Tower Road and its parking lot and restoring the landscape of this area;

- Restoration of historic guttering along Inner Line Drive;

- Overlay of road and the replacement of currently non-functional drainage features on Inner Line Drive;

- Removal of Conway’s parking lot (dogwood lot) and landscaping of the area;

- Reconfiguration of Artillery Park parking lot, Redoubt 3 parking lot, and the Von Steuben parking lot for more efficient utilization of available parking.

This project was reviewed by the public in Summer 2006 and compliance was completed in September 2006. You may see a detailed description of the project in the environmental assessment by visiting http://parkplanning.nps.gov.

The project was funded by the Federal Lands Highways Division of the Federal Highways Administration.
