U.S. Park Police
54th Presidential Inaugural Parade After Action Report
Saturday,
January 20, 2001
During
the 54th Presidential Inaugural Parade the United States Park Police
were instrumental in the overall success of this event.
Listed below are the significant incidents handled by the U.S. Park
Police during this event:
Effected arrest of a subject for assaulting a United States Secret Service agent at the Navy Memorial.
Effected arrest of a subject for assaulting a Metropolitan Police officer at the Navy Memorial.
Effected arrest of a subject for breaking through the police line onto the parade route at 9th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.
Also, during this event the U.S. Park Police Horse Mounted Patrol Unit and the U.S. Park Police Helicopter (Eagle 1) were deployed to numerous incidents in and around the parade route to assist other law enforcement agencies with unruly demonstrators. During these deployments numerous demonstrators were taken into custody.
In
addition to these reactive events, the U.S. Park Police proactively monitored
the crowd and safely maintained the integrity of the police line along the
parade route. To include, rendering
medical assistance to several persons, enforcing vending regulation, and
successfully maintaining several demonstrations sites.
