U.S. Park Police Sex Offender Sentenced

Willie James Clements
Willie James Clements

On February 9, 2006, Willie James Clements, 43, of District Heights, Maryland, was found guilty after a DC Superior Court trial of two counts of Simple Assault and one count of Attempted Misdemeanor Sex Abuse. On March 24, 2006, Clements was sentenced to serve the maximum of three consecutive 180-day sentences, and pay $3,000 in fines.

On October 31, 2004, Clements enticed a juvenile female into his vehicle near the Benning Road Metro Station. Clements sexually abused the girl and then took her to a dark area off of Southern Avenue where Clements placed her in fear of further sexual assault. The victim tried to escape, but was physically assaulted by Clements. After the assault, Clements was driving at a high rate of speed when the victim again tried to escape. During her attempt, Clements pushed the girl from his moving vehicle.

The victim fell into a traffic lane in the 5500 block of Southern Avenue, where she suffered numerous injuries. Clements fled in his vehicle with the victim’s property. A Good Samaritan assisted the victim.

Through the combined efforts of the Prince Georges County Police and the United States Park Police, numerous items of evidence in the case were recovered.

The United States Park Police is attempting to identify rightful owners of property connected with this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the United States Park Police Tip Line at (202) 610-8737.

Clements was required to register as a sex offender due to a 1991 conviction in California; however, Clements was not in compliance at the time of this crime.
