| Station Commander - Arthur Jacobsen |
|
Their areas of responsibility include Great Falls, Maryland and Virginia; Mount Vernon; Fort Hunt; the Washington Sailing, Columbia Island and Belle Haven Marinas; Theodore Roosevelt Island; Iwo Jima; Turkey Run; Fort Marcy; and the remaining areas of the C&O Canal from the Washington, DC, line to Seneca, Maryland. In 1971, the Station took on responsibility for the newly opened Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts. Tragically, the Filene Center was destroyed by fire in 1982; however, it was rebuilt and remains a showcase for major performances today. In addition, D-2 provides police service to Arlington National Cemetery. The heavily used George Washington Parkway provides a major thoroughfare for Washington, DC. Officers at the Glen Echo Station are highly experienced in accident investigation, traffic management, and enforcement. Each year thousands of citations are issued to maintain public safety. District-2 areas are also patrolled by scooter and plainclothes officers and, just recently, photo radar was introduced. |
