FEMALE BICYCLIST ATTACKED |

On Saturday, May 21, 2005 around 6:00 PM, a woman was
attacked and robbed of her bicycle while riding towards Georgetown on
the Capital Crescent Trail along the C & O Canal.
The suspect sprung from a grove of trees on the right side of the trail and immediately struck the victim in the head, knocking her to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect hit her again in the head, snatched the bicycle away from her, jumped on and rode towards Georgetown. The suspect is described as a black male, about 30 years old, approximately 5’10”, 150 – 160 lbs, dark skinned, wearing a baseball cap and a windbreaker jacket. The stolen bicycle is a Trek 500 series hybrid, dark purple with yellow lettering, with straight handlebars. A seat pack was attached to the seat post containing an assortment of tools and a patch kit. Two safety vests were also attached to the bike: one was yellow and orange, the other a white reflector vest. The U.S. Park Police is requesting help from the public.
