
| The United States Park Police advises that: |
| Tour Buses collide on George Washington Memorial Parkway |
On Friday, May 16, 2008, at approximately 5:26 p.m., two tour buses traveling south on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, south of Route 123 collided. One bus was traveling behind the second bus. The lead bus stopped for traffic and the second bus rear ended the first. The first bus was disabled. The door to the second bus was pinched closed and had to be opened by emergency responders. The buses were traveling together and occupied by teenage minors from the Pittsburg, Pennsylvania area. There are twelve reported injuries at this time, with seven transported to an area hospital for treatment. All injuries are reported to be non life threatening. The southbound lanes were closed and traffic diverted onto Route 123
for the investigation until approximately 8:45 p.m. Anyone having information
regarding these subjects, and or vehicle is asked to
