 The United States Park Police advises of a:
 

Aircraft Down off Baltimore Washington Parkway

On Saturday, January 05, 2008, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the United States Park Police were notified of a plane crash near the Baltimore Washington Parkway north of route 197.

Passing motorists reported seeing a small aircraft crash into the tree line. Initial investigation revealed that the pilot, a 42 year old male out of Clarkesville, Maryland, had mechanical issues with the aircraft prior to it crashing. The United States Park Police “Eagle” helicopter responded to transport the pilot to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The Baltimore Washington Parkway was closed southbound at route 198 for the investigation. The north bound lanes were closed at route 197 and reopened shortly before 7:00 p.m.
