Regular boat tours to the USS Arizona Memorial will not be operating on the following dates:

  1. December 21, 22, 2009
  2. January 11-15, 2010
  3. February 1-5, 2010

However, all other visitor center facilities and programs will be open including the visitor center theater, museum, bookstore, interpretive exhibit panels and audiotours.   The boat tours are being suspended during these dates due to construction work on the boat docks.

During this time, visitors may still enjoy the following visitor center facilities and programs:

Visitor center theater:
Visitors may secure tickets to view a dramatic 23-minute documentary film depicting the attack on Pearl Harbor. Showings begin every 15 minutes, with the first showing starting at 8:00 a.m. and last showing starting at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are free and available first-come, first-served at the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum & Park ticket office which is located adjacent to the USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center.  Reservations are not accepted.  The documentary is normally part of the regular USS Arizona Memorial program tour.

The museum:
The museum at the visitor center is filled with exhibits that give visitors a sense of the magnitude of the attack on Pearl Harbor. National archives, personal collections and even film from Japanese pilots yielded an array of dramatic pictures of the attack in progress.

Live WebCam of USS Arizona Memorial:
Visitors may still view the interior of the USS Arizona Memorial via  a special monitor set up in the Museum showing live images from a webcam positioned onboard the Memorial.

Visitor center book store:
The bookstore offers visitors a rare opportunity to take home some of the rich history of this place and carries an extensive selection of material and memorabilia documenting the life of the USS Arizona, the attack on Pearl Harbor and the war that followed.

Interpretive exhibit panels:
A series of exhibit tablets invite visitors to imagine the experience of that tragic day, by superimposing descriptive images of Pearl Harbor as it was in 1941 across the panorama of the busy port as it appears today.  Pictured landmarks and explanations are interspersed with historic anecdotes and facts.

AudioTours:
For visitors interested in a narrated tour, an audio headset is available for rent at the visitor center front lobby. The one-hour audio tour is narrated by Academy Award winning actor and U.S. Navy WWII veteran Ernest Borgnine and takes visitors to 24 destinations – including the museum.
