Children are naturally curious about the world around them. The program River Readings is for children in Pre-K through 2nd grade. They will learn about plants, insects and wildlife that can be found in the Upper Delaware River Valley. Children will explore these areas through stories and hands-on activities.

River Readings will take place every Thursday morning at 10:30am beginning July 12, 2012 and will run through August 16th. The program will be held at the historic Zane Grey Museum in Lackawaxen, PA. Children will sit under the shade of maple trees where once famed western writer Zane Grey lived and wrote.

American Shad

The American Shad are a saltwater fish that migrate from the Atlantic Ocean up the Delaware River to spawn in the spring. Fish reach the upper portions of the river by early to mid May. After spawning many of the weakened adult Shad die, usually in late June and into July.
