Description: The city developed a program
ZooPower which operated as an alternative to anti-social behavior
activities. The program featured the Roger Williams Park Zoo
Discovery Center that provided classroom, laboratory and an
outdoor education. The program included discussions, interative
computers, experiments, and slide/video presentations all
with a drug prevention theme. Teens were recruited and trained
as Zoo Rangers to assist the Zoo personnel in caring for the
animals, and assisted with the zoomobile program that went
into targeted neighborhoods.
