Project Name: Teenage Entrepreneur Training

Fiscal Year: 1992

Description: This program was developed as an entrepreneur-based leadership training program for at-risk teens. A mini-amusement park with roller skating rink, big bank shot, basketball games, arcade area with carnival-type games, a moon walker unit, concession shelter and bleachers. During summer months teens were trained to manage the facility.

Fiscal Year: 2002

Description: Long Meadow Park is a 9.6-acre park in northeast Durham. Renovation includes swimming pool, bathhous, basketball court, picnic shelter, grills, benches and tables, and landscaping.

Project Name: T.E.A.M.

Federal Share: $100,000

Fiscal Year: 1992

Description: A program developed in partnership with the city's education and recreation departments that provided a variety of sports, fitness, and educational activities for 8 to 14 year-old at-risk youth. Leadership training, anti-drug and gang seminars, physical fitness and health activities as well as organized sports activities were provided.

Description: Renovated tennis courts, ball fields, ball courts, bleachers and concession stand. Replaced picnic tables and benches, playgrund equipment. Upgraded the landscaping and made irrigation improvements.

Description: Renovate six existing bridge, install two new picnic shelters, tables, grilles and basketball court.

Project Name: Booker T. Washington Community Center

Description: First opened as a high school in 1926 for African Americans, it was converted to a community center in 1969. Renovations include roof repairs, repair damaged ceilings, replace boiler system, and gym floor.

Description: Robert Strange Park - renovatated athletic fields, play fields, and picnic area. Martin Luther King Center - repaired air conditioning system.

Description: Renovated the Girls Club building, heat/air conditioning system, plumbing and electrical systems. Replaced fencing and a metal addition to building.
