and Disabled Citizens

Description: A pilot recreation program designed
for seniors and disabled persons. The Parks Department, in
partnership with the University of Missouri-Columbia, trained
recreation staff and volunteers, produced training manuals,
and evaluated recreation programming and social service aspect
of the program. Services provided were health and exercise,
nature, camping, and social recreation activities. In addition,
three recreation centers were renovated removingt physical
barriers and improving handicap access. These centers were
Gamble Recreation Center, West End Center, and O'Fallon Park
Boathouse.
