Description: Wheller Recreation Center - renovated locker and restrooms, gym-boxing-wrestling area, installed new floor in auditorium/gym, and kitchen. Patton Park - renovated roof, ceiling over swimming pool, locker and restrooms, and various interior and exterior modifications. Kronk Center - renovated restrooms, kitchen, storage and locker rooms, and various interior and exterior modifications. Brewer Center - renovated restrooms, kitchen, installed a new roof.

Description: Created a children's driving safety center with small roads, signs, small buildings, renovated playground, and installed new playground equipment.

Description: Bluebell beach is an 80-acre park located in the Genesee Recreation Area on 600-acre Mott Lake. Renovations include installaztion of playground equipment, park furniture, a new water sprayground, and landscaping.

Project Name: Recreation to Reduce Risk

Fiscal Year: 1992

Description: A neighborhood oriented program that provided recreation and social services for all age groups in the Belknap, Stocking, and Madison neighborhoods. The program operated out of two schools and a recreation center. The activities provided were teen rap sessions, bowling and pizza parties, basketball, dances, field trips, aerobic classes, after-school crafts and quilting, and family activity nights.

Description: Ives Playfield - renovated storage facility and constructed an exercise station. Lee Tot-Lot - renovated playground, and installed new playground equipment. Storen Park - renovated playground and installed new playground equipment. Perchman Park - renovated ballfield and playground. Installed new playground equipment. Mulford Park - created a new passive area with trees, shrubs, and benches. Barone Park - renovated playground, equipment storage facility, installed new fence, benches, sandbox and horseshoe pit, and playground equipment. Richton Park - converted wading pool into a multi-use play court, removed old fence, and installed drinking fountains and trees.

Description: Created a recreation programming center and related facilities specifically designed for staging a variety of recreation activities. In addition, renovation Sparks Park recreation center complex included lagoon access improvements, constructed trails, and picnic and play areas.

Project Name: Multi-recreation Program Opportunities

Federal Share: $128,877

Fiscal Year: 1982

Description: Several recreation programs were initiated to meet the needs of the diverse community in Jackson. The programs included Historic Life Skills - included blacksmithing, broom making, candle making, woodworking, and soap making. Gardening Program - garden program for seniors. Multi-Modal Transportation System - constructed handicap accessible paths, trails, and transportation system for disabled citizens. Urban Fisheries program - stablized river bank, constructed a shoreline pier, and provided free fishing clinics. Adopt-A-Mini-Park - renoated a playground and transferred recreation program of the park to a neighborhood community group. Handicapped Recreation Instruction program - created recreation activities for disabled citizens that were not available such as basketball league, tennis, cross-country skiing, hiking, and horse-back riding.

Description: Renovated swimming pool and pool equipment, parking lot, and installed new access ramps.

Description: Hunter Park - renovated swimming pool, restrooms, repaved parking lot, and installed access ramps. Municipal Field and Riverfront Park - installed new light system.

Description: Smith-Ryerson Playfield - renovated two tennis courts and two basketball courts, playground, and realignment of two ballfields. McCrea Playfield - constructed a new storage/restroom facility, renovated basketball courts, softball infield, playground, and playfield. Park Avenue Playground (Craig School) - renovated six tennis courts and two basketball courts.
