If you are planning to attend a park event and you need a sign language interpreter, please contact the park at least two weeks ahead of the event you would like to attend.

To contact the park with accessibility questions or requests, please email the park or call the visitor center during business hours at (928) 634-5564.

The park does not have any wheelchairs available to borrow. Please plan to bring whatever mobility aids you will need to enjoy your visit.

Service Animals

Service animals, dogs that are specifically trained to assist people with disabilities, are permitted in all buildings and on all trails. Emotional support animals are not service animals. Leashed pets are also permitted on all trails, but may only be in the visitor center if they are being carried. Dog boots are highly recommended for the paved Pueblo Trail and Marsh Overlook Trail in the summer.

Although the Tuzigoot Pueblo Trail is fully paved, the trail is narrow and features some steep grades that are not suitable for wheelchairs.

Trails and Facilities

The visitor center, restrooms, and the Marsh Overlook Trail are fully accessible for wheelchairs. The Marsh Overlook Trail is 0.4 miles (0.6 km) one-way and starts next to the restrooms at the visitor center. This paved trail ends at a seating area with an excellent view of the Tavasci Marsh and is a great spot to look for birds and other wildlife.

The Tuzigoot Pueblo Trail is a 0.3 mile (0.5 km) loop trail and is fully paved. The trail is easy to moderate in difficulty with some steep grades that make it unsuitable for wheelchairs. Access to the roof of the citadel tower requires the use of stairs. Hazards in the citadel include steep, potentially slippery stairs and poor lighting. A handrail is provided for the staircase up to the roof.

The other trails in the park including the Tavasci Marsh Trail are not paved and are easy to moderate in difficulty. Trails are mostly a compacted dirt, gravel, or grass surface and not accessible by wheelchair. Parts of the trails may be muddy, waterlogged, or flooded depending on the time of the year. Footing is often uneven and may be slippery. Trail intersections may be poorly marked. Conditions may have changed since the last time the trail was checked.
