Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments to Host Two Volunteer Recruitment Fairs in August

The National Park Service welcomes and encourages local area residents to learn about its Volunteer Program by attending one of two programs.

The first Volunteer Fair will be held on Friday, August 14th, at Montezuma Castle National Monument in Camp Verde, AZ.The second Fair will be held on Friday, August 28th, at Tuzigoot National Monument in Clarkdale, AZ.

Each event will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. There is no fee to attend.

Prospective volunteers will have the chance to talk with Park Rangers and staff from all divisions. Opportunities may include working with Jr. Rangers, walking the trails and answering questions, providing orientation and directions to visitors, helping with special events, assisting with natural and cultural resource monitoring projects, maintenance or administration. Volunteers will receive training in whichever field they choose to participate.

VIPs (Volunteers-in-Parks) are invaluable to the National Park Service and play an important role in visitor experiences.Volunteers range in age from young children to senior citizens. They come from all over the United States, and the world, bringing different backgrounds, skills, and talents that enrich our park programs.

The National Park Service VIP program was authorized and enacted in 1970. The primary purpose of the program is to provide opportunities through which the National Park Service can accept voluntary help and services from the public in such a way that is mutually beneficial to the National Park Service and the volunteer.

The National Park Service celebrates its 100th Anniversary in 2016. Over 20,000 National Park Service employees care for America's 407 national parks and monuments and create close-to-home recreational and cultural opportunities.
