  • Trail Construction ongoing at the historic Tumacácori Mission site

    A new accessible trail is being built around the mission. Due to heavy equipment and construction activities, detours and partial closures exist. Associated dust, noise, and potential trip hazards will be present through the end of May.

Archaeology at Tumacácori
Archaeology goes hand in hand with historic preservation and is an on-going process at Tumacácori National Historical Park. For more information click here. Extensive archaeological work done in the 1930´s, as seen above and at left, helps the preservation staff know how to best stabilize and preserve park resources, and provides much historical information for the interpretive staff to better help the public understand life at Tumacácori.
