Notes:  Padre Arriquibar was born December 19, 1745, at the parish of Sant María Ceánuri near Bilbao, Spain.  He  died in September, 1820, but the actual date is not known.  He was described as being chunky and full in the face.  He entered the Franciscan novitiate in Bilbao, Bizkaia at the age of seventeen.  Seven years later at Aranzazu he volunteered for the missionary college of San Fernando in Mexico City and left Spain for New Spain in 1769.  He arrived in New Spain in May of 1770 and sailed for Baja California in February 1771.  He served at Santa Rosalia de Mulege until October, 1772, when he left the peninsula according to the agreement between the Franciscans and Dominicans.  He returned to Mexico City in 1772 and transferred to the College of Querétaro in 1774.  He was at Tumacácori by 1775 and stayed until the spring of 1780, when he was transferred to San Ignacio.  He stayed there until 1796 when he became chaplain of the Presidio of Tucson.  He served at Tucson from 1797 until his death.  He spent 45 years in the Pimeria Alta, the longest time of any priest.  From 1769 until his death he travelled at least 10,000 miles.
