Challenge Cost Share

Challenge Cost Share is a program offering federal funding, to be matched 50/50, for preservation and interpretation/education projects along the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.

Don't be frightened by the forms! Instructions are provided, and help is available from staff at the National Trail System-Intermountain office in Santa Fe.

The submission deadline is February 1, 2008, for FY08 (October 1, 2007 through September 30, 2008). The following Challenge Cost Share Program forms are available for viewing and printing:

Three detachments of Cherokee people were removed from their homelands to Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma) along water routes, while 11 detachments made their way overland along existing roads. These routes are part of the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.
