National Park Service staff is spread throughout its 398 national parks, the national office, 7 regional offices and specialized technical assistance and research centers around the country. The national office is headquartered at the Department of the Interior in Washington, DC. Over 28,000 employees throughout the country work on a myriad of issues affecting the cultural and natural environment in an effort to further the mission of the National Park Service.

Cultural Resources, Partnerships and Science Directorate
The Cultural Resources directorate of the National Park Service is comprised of staff, interns and volunteers working in Washington, DC, Natchitoches, LA, Denver, CO and at the 7 regional offices.
The Cultural Resources, Partnerships and Science directorate is divided into two major program areas, Stewardship and Science, and Preservation Assistance, each headed by a Deputy Associate Director. Both Deputies, as well as the Business Office, the National NAGPRA Program and the Chief of the American Indian Liaison Office report to the Associate Director for Cultural Resources, Partnerships and Science.
