| This competency considers an individual's being able to work with one's
supervisor and agency to plan a course of action for one's performance,
career, and ultimately, retirement.
While some trainers have incorporated a brief section on Individual Development and Planning into the "Supporting the Mission" section of Compass II, this competency is primarily a part of the Compass I curriculum. Further, it is a part of the curriculum left to the participant's supervisor. By its very nature, Individual Development and Planning is unique to each person. Numerous comments about the need for career guidance and personnel issues imply that perhaps supervisors as a group are not being as diligent about employee development as they could be. |
