Managing People
Description: This is an in depth course of work environment, the role of the supervisor, conduct and discipline, designing positions and writing position descriptions managing work priorities, interviewing, evaluating and selecting applicant. The course is designed as an integrated roadmap for supervisors to navigate the work environment effectively. This course is open enrollment and will be offered in the Pacific West, Midwest, Northeast and Southeast or Southwest Regions.
Course Objectives:
Establishing an effective work unit;
Designing positions and writing position descriptions;
Managing work priorities and work quality in line with NPS strategic goals;
Recognizing employee development and continuous performance improvement as central components of performance management;
Conducting interviews, evaluating job applicants, and making defensible selection decisions;
Conducting multiple source recruiting and recognizing appropriate ways to achieve work force diversity;
Managing performance deficiencies and conduct problems
This course meets 40-hour of a supervisor’s mandatory training requirements.
Participants: Geared toward middle managers and individuals who have responsibility for management of staff.
