Mid-Level Intake Program

 

 Description: The Mid Level Intake Program is a competency-based management development program that is designed to enhance the competencies needed to become a more effective manager and leader.  Participants will be provided with new and challenging experiences that will give them the opportunity to learn first-hand through on-the-job training, developmental assignments, formal educational courses, self-study projects, details and shadowing experiences how to manage and lead to excellence.  Successful completion of the program will produce a cadre of highly qualified candidates for management positions in the National Park Service.

Course Goals: The Goal of the Mid Level Intake Program is to recruit internal and external high quality participants that through the experience of the program will succeed to management positions and lead the efforts to achieve the mission and core values of the National Park Service.  The result of the program is that participants will learn how to lead people, manage relationships and become accountable, performance-driven leaders, able to engage others’ full energies, commitment and capabilities.

The first class of Mid-Level Intakes was inducted on October 9, 2001, at the Horace M. Albright Training Center in Grand Canyon, Arizona.   This outstanding group completed the  NPS Fundamentals II course and a very intense 3-day orientation to the Mid-Level Intake Program.
